Goals for the Impending Months
Things that should really get done: Get a job somewhere awesome. Draw more often—also draw more like this man and this lady. Join the Seattle Philharmonic in time to play the Firebird suite next April. Depending on how quickly and how lucratively I complete my first goal, I may need to get another tattoo as well. Otherwise, that is all.

Moral of the story?
Turns out a bathrobe should only be worn indoors. And even then, you apparently still have to wash it. BOO.

Jonathan McConnell: What We Need is a Bit More... →
Jonathan McConnell’s take on the necessity of criticism in more commonplace situations.  In my own simple terms: an art show is a artist/designer saying something with their work, a craft show is a bunch of artists making all manners of items seeking the approval of the wondering crowds. But it is in this setting that no one can say to the artists, “What are you doing? What is this thing...

Yet another reason I'm glad I left.
The Gap is plagiarizing for their marketing. I’m not sure if this is new for them, but this is the first specific case I’ve heard. Steven Heller pointed out today on Print an unfortunate similarity between a piece of the Gap’s summer marketing and John Van Hamersveld’s “The Endless Summer” poster. Heller doesn’t go so far as to actually call it...

Buy my old amp!
It’s on consignment at Bass Northwest down in Pioneer Square. It’s an Acoustic Model 122 combo amp from 1981, with one 15” speaker and 125 watts behind it. Bass Northwest has more info and a picture on their website.

Twitter visualization of the World Cup
So, I don’t really care about the World Cup at all, but I do care about schwancy internet doohickeys. The Guardian has an absolutely awesome visualization of what people were tweeting during all the matches so far. It reminds me of one I think the NY Times did for the Superbowl, but the scope of this one—plus how slick and simple it is—makes it a winner in my book.

Don't want to get punched by a cop? Don't attack...
Pardon me if I sound like a crotchety old man, but Monday’s unfortunate incident wherein an SPD officer punched a teenage girl interfering in an arrest seemed to be appropriate. It looks horrible—a white cop punching a black teenager—but she had started wrestling with him, and I think you should expect a cop to respond with some degree of force if you attack him first. I am disgusted by how...

Are you for reals, Tea Party crazies?
How can you possibly support someone purely because they are running against Patty Murray? Do you know where this man stands on certain issues? Probably not, because Dino Rossi has no political stance whatsoever posted on his website, aside from a comment that we’ll restore the American dream, keeping our country the free, strong, prosperous nation that our parents made for us. You...
